Upstate Conservation Services provides flexible, responsive, and pragmatic conservation support to museums, libraries, community archives, and private collectors throughout Upstate New York.
Founded in 2025 by Luisa Casella, the studio builds on over twenty-five years of professional experience in museums, research institutes, and private practice. Her background includes fellowships at the George Eastman Museum, Image Permanence Institute, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and positions at Lupa – Luis Pavão, Lda., the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and West Lake Conservators.
Luisa is a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC), a pathway member of Icon-UK and a certified Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) Assessor. She has taught internationally and contributed to leading publications on the care and conservation of photographic materials.
Upstate Conservation Services offers conservation treatment, collection survey, preservation consulting, and educational programs tailored to each client’s goals and resources, bringing specialized expertise to institutions and communities throughout Upstate New York.
