Founded in 2025, the studio is led by Luisa Casella, a conservator with over twenty-five years of experience in major museums, research institutes, and private practice. Her professional background includes The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Harry Ransom Center ay University of Texas Austin, West Lake Conservators, and the George Eastman Museum/ Image Permanence Institute, as well as early-career work at Lupa – Luis Pavão, Lda in Lisbon.
Luisa is a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC), a pathway member of Icon-UK and a certified Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) Assessor. She has taught internationally and contributed to leading publications on the care and conservation of photographic materials.
Upstate Conservation Services offers treatment, surveys, preservation consulting, and educational programs tailored to each client’s goals and resources, bringing conservation expertise to institutions and communities throughout Upstate New York.
